Devil’s Advocate Unmasked and Podcasted [TIF Ep 7]

Julian Kheel, the artist formerly known as “The Devil’s Advocate”, joins the podcast this week.

Greg, the artist still know as “The Frequent Miler”, also joins, which is extra interesting because The Devil’s Advocate wrote “Bet You Didn’t Know” on Frequent Miler until he quit to take an offer at TPG… which we discuss.

Mostly I facilitate a debate between Julian’s mileage running and Greg’s MSing $500,000 a year for Delta Status (for him and his wife).

Devil’s Advocate’s “Bet You Didn’t Know” makes a one-time return on TIF Podcast!
Did you know: If you book Virgin Atlantic metal basic economy tickets on the Air France website, you get full economy benefits (like picking seat & no change fees)?

What we discuss:

  • The beginning is us discussing Julian telling Greg that he’s quitting writing for Frequent Miler to write for TPG and their reactions.
    • And we discuss writing in general, a little bit.
  • In Julian and Greg’s debate to MS Delta Platinum status vs fly it, I get both points.
Greg’s point is that the math is better.
Julian’s point is that he got to fly to South America.
  • Greg talks about the process of MSing Delta status.
    • Platinum status only requires $25,000 in spend.
The benefits here are things like free changes and 4 regional upgrades.
    • Basically you have to spend $250,000 to get Diamond status, which is where you get 4 global upgrades and 4 regional upgrades.
You also need multiple Delta credit cards.
  • Greg say he’s never had a trans-atlantic upgrade not clear on Delta.
  • I propose mileage running via AirMule a strategy which JT (at TPG) used to earn $1,800 as a courier.
This is a service that allows you to get paid to fly, mostly from NYC to China.

When can we expect EP 9? Also any reason why no blog post corresponding to EP8?

    I’m loving your podcast!
