Finally, here is the map of Choice Hotels by points price. This is one of the last hotel chains as part of the Complete Map series (which can also be found on the Resource Page). So be sure to check out Marriott, IHG, Hilton, Hyatt, and Radisson there as well.

(Click in the top left corner to (un)check categories, & in the top right corner for full screen)

Pricing Points Hotels w/ Choice Hotels

The thing about choice hotels is that they have an off-peak and peak season type of pricing, but it seems to be based more on demand than season.

Some hotels can be 8,000 points one month, then 20,000 points the next.

In general, the points levels are as follows:

  1. 6,000 Choice points
  2. 8,000 Choice points
  3. 10,000 Choice points
  4. 12,000 Choice points
  5. 16,000 Choice points
  6. 20,000 Choice points
  7. 25,000 Choice points
  8. 30,000 Choice points
  9. 75,000 Choice points

Not included on this map (yet) is the Preferred Hotel Group. You can’t use Choice points at all Preferred Hotel Group hotels, but I’ll be doing a follow up with that info soon.

    Hey Drew,
I travel to Spain quite a bit and I noticed that the Complete Map of Choice Hotels is missing several Sercotel Ascend properties, especially in Northern Spain. I truly love your stuff and it has helped me tremendously to achieve low cost travel around the world. Im not sure if you can easily update the maps, but these missing hotels are pretty good bargains on points.

I was going to note the same thing. There have been some crazy good deals on the new Choice properties in Spain, but I think many of the prices are going up for Fall stays.

FWIW, I buy Choice points in the annual Discover America promo. Most chains have good redemptions and bad redemptions, so it’s good to have points in as many programs as possible. Choice has more variation than most, as the program seems somewhat haphazardly administered.

Much appreciated, even more so since TIF first put me onto that Amtrak 3-1 Choice deal…. Sill have the proverbial “ton” of Choice points to use from that…. and this is a great tool. (even with the caveat duly noted that a lot of Choice properties seem to have considerable flexibility to adjust their point rates — and not just between seasons, but I’ve even seen some change back and forth during a week…. perhaps depending on location and demand patterns. ex. Comfort Inn University near Fairfax, VA)

One suggestion, if possible…. Might you be able to modify the color coding between categories? Right now, for example, the colors for categories 1-4 seem at first blush nearly identical. Sure, it becomes more clear the more you magnify on a region of interest.)

Is there a new location for this map? I’m getting this error for the map on this page:

“404. That’s an error. The requested URL was not found on this server. That’s all we know.”

Other maps for other hotel brands still work, though.
