The 7 Iberia Avios Award Charts

While I’m working on award charts, I wanted another preliminary post that tackles one of the oddest airline programs – the Avios family.

Today I wanted to go over the 7 award charts for redeeming Iberia Avios, because the prices are often different than British Airways (BA) Avios.

There are ample earning opportunities – You can not only transfer to Iberia Avios from Amex MR and Chase UR. However, you can also transfer Avios between BA, Aer Lingus, and Iberia.

Plus, sometimes Iberia Avios can be used to avoid BA fuel surcharges.

Let’s jump right into the award charts…

Iberia Avios: OneWorld Award Chart

How the chart works?

This chart is for roundtrips.

To get the mileage price, add up the total distance of your route (I use gcmap.com), and match that total distance to ranges in column 1.

When do you use the OneWorld Award Chart?

  • When redeeming for OneWorld partners
    • Except British Airways and Iberia have their own award chart, when you redeem your Iberia Avios on just BA or Iberia flights.
    • However, when you combine BA or Iberia with another OneWorld Partner, you use the above award chart.
  • Two non-OneWorld partners: Avianca, and Royal Air Marcoc

Iberia Avios: Iberia Award Chart

This chart: each segment is priced individually using distance in miles.

This chart is for Iberia flights only, unless combined with a OneWorld partner airline (except British Airways, Air Italy and Vueling), then you would use the OneWorld Award Chart.

Iberia Avios: British Airways Award Chart

Other Partner Award Charts

All the following charts are also priced per segment, using distance in miles.

Iberia Avios: Vueling Award Chart (for Vueling flights)

Iberia Avios: Interjet Award Chart (for Interjet flights connecting from Iberia flights)

(Again, Interjet flights can only be booked with Iberia Avios, when connecting from an Iberia flight – making this an additional cost.)

Iberia Avios: Air Italy Award Chart (for Air Italy flights)

Iberia Avios: Binter Canarias Award Chart (for Binter flights)

Conclusion

Like it or not, these 7 award charts are half the Avios story. As such, I’ll be doing a follow up with BA’s award charts.

However, don’t worry, I’m not trying to turn into the award chart blog. I was making these anyways, I had some ideas, but thought it best to first explain the award charts before sharing the ideas coming from them.

Look for real posts on JAL and BA soon (beside the next BA award chart post).

I was interested to see that Iberia can be used on Interjet. Is it true that Avios can only be used in conjunction with an attached Iberia flight to/from Mexico?

Welp. You win the most informed commenter award… Cuz (unfortunately) you’re right.

My bad, I looked at each one of those charts and read right over that. However, good catch!
      I appreciate it.

Reminds me of my unsuccessful attempt to redeem for Binter. At the time seemed it may not have been possible to successfully redeem for them.
